Making Puppets

Some of the puppets we made for Kenya and Spring Valley

It is hard to believe that next week at this time we will be in Kenya.  Today, we were making puppets.  None of the team could help us, so Darlene and I set about making fourteen puppets with Pastor Nate and Sharon from Spring Valley Community Church. (That is where we go to church.)  We had fun talking and hot gluing foam and fur for several hours.  The end result was a group of very cute smaller monster puppets.  Some of the puppets are going to be used at our church.  The others will be used by our team in Africa.

Here I am making puppet mouths.

Please continue to pray for our team as we make final preparations to go to Kenya.  We will be leaving Valley Forge on Thursday afternoon.  Stay tuned to this blog for updates as we embark upon this missionary endeavor.

  2. Hey, I am Mike Ndegwa. I work for a Christian organisation (St. Johns Community centre) in Kenya implementing a youth empowerment project in the slum areas. One of the youth groups has been reaching out to pupils and high school students with messages on Lifeskills. We are trying to introduce puppetry to their work as they have been trained in educational theatre and use of puppets. Our main challenge is getting puppets in kenya or skills in making fine products of which we would appreciate partnership with you. As you come, you may consider getting in touch with us. my number is +254720269326 and email is mikekndegwa@gmail.com.
