Making Puppets

Some of the puppets we made for Kenya and Spring Valley

It is hard to believe that next week at this time we will be in Kenya.  Today, we were making puppets.  None of the team could help us, so Darlene and I set about making fourteen puppets with Pastor Nate and Sharon from Spring Valley Community Church. (That is where we go to church.)  We had fun talking and hot gluing foam and fur for several hours.  The end result was a group of very cute smaller monster puppets.  Some of the puppets are going to be used at our church.  The others will be used by our team in Africa.

Here I am making puppet mouths.

Please continue to pray for our team as we make final preparations to go to Kenya.  We will be leaving Valley Forge on Thursday afternoon.  Stay tuned to this blog for updates as we embark upon this missionary endeavor.

Getting Ready

Our team is getting ready to leave. All final arrangements are being made and we are all excited about the upcoming trip.  We leave March 3.  Each Tuesday evening, we have been meeting to practice and nail down details for our trip.  Last night our team members told and acted out Bible stories.  They are going to do great in Africa.  Thank you for your continued prayers as we get ready to leave.

Kenya Team Goes To Boot Camp

Team Kenya holding the team sign we designed at the Boot Camp.

Team Kenya went to missions boot camp last weekend.  We spent time at a retreat center in the woods near Lebanon, PA.  We joined with about sixty other VFCC students and leaders who are all preparing to go on missions trips this semester.  Boot camp is a retreat designed to inspire and train missions team participants.  We spent time in prayer, worship, training, team building activities and fun.

Team Kenya will be traveling to Nairobi on March 3, 2011.  There, we will minister along side of veteran missionary to children, Jay Risner.  Please continue to pray for this upcoming missions experience.

The pictures above were taken as our team presented two puppet songs for the rest of Boot Camp.
